Why I'm Building WoodScraps

I got my first workbench when I was seven years old. My grandfather built it for me, handed me some tools, and let me start figuring things out. I didn't know it at the time, but that workbench set the direction for a lot of what came next.

Years later, I found myself on job sites as a framing lead, building houses from the ground up. I was reading plans, understanding structure, learning what actually holds up over time versus what just looks good on day one. That background changed how I think about building anything, including the smaller stuff I make now.

Eventually my career took a different turn, and I moved into software. Woodworking became something else for me: a way to step away from a screen and make something real with my hands. What started as a weekend outlet slowly turned into something I wanted to build into more.

That's what WoodScraps is. It's not a woodshop pretending to be a media company, or a channel pretending to sell things. It's one project at a time, done right, shared honestly. Some builds you'll be able to buy finished. Some you'll get as a digital plan to build yourself. Some I'll just walk you through, because I think the process is worth sharing even if you never pick up a tool.

My grandfather taught me something else, too: buy the best tool you can afford at the moment you actually need it, not before, not the cheap version "for now." It'll last, and you won't be replacing it in a year. That's the same standard I want to hold every piece, every plan, and every video to here.
